Michelle is a Taiwanese American editor specializing in adult and YA contemporary, romance, and fantasy, with a special love for the following subgenres: contemporary romance, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, high/epic fantasy, and every combination of the above. She also has a place in her heart for literary fiction and erotica.
Her clients include indie authors and publishers such as Erewhon Books, as well as traditional publishers like Bloomsbury, Macmillan, Soho Press, Sourcebooks, and Hachette. She is the staff copy editor for the Dalcroze Society of America and a submissions editor for Giganotosaurus, a semi-pro SFFH webzine and, as a 2023 debut author, brings her expertise from both ends of the traditional publishing process to her editorial work. Michelle prides herself on her professionalism, quick turnarounds, and open communication with her clients. Above all, her job is to shape the manuscript according to the client's vision while remaining respectful and sensitive to marginalized voices. She can sensitivity read for Taiwanese American culture (and by extension, general Chinese American culture) and Taiwanese diaspora issues, interracial relationships, anxiety and depression as it relates to the Asian American experience, single parent East Asian households, and living with people suffering from chronic pain (migraines, menstrual issues, rheumatoid arthritis). Michelle is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and Georgia State University, and got her start in editing through the mentorship program at Tessera Editorial. |
