Studio Plum Editorial currently has limited availability for 2022.

Studio Plum Editorial provides a full range of editorial services. We strive for transparent, open communication between editor and client, and always edit with sensitivity to issues affecting marginalized creators. Please contact us to inquire about the type of editing needed for the project. A sample edit of 10 pages will be provided free of charge.

Developmental Editing
​$50/hr


Developmental editing: At least two passes with a detailed edit letter and in-line notes addressing plot, pacing, character arc, and other issues, with full access to the editor for the length of the edit. The editor will follow up with text chat, audio chat, or video chat to discuss issues and answer questions.

Manuscript evaluations are a one-time assessment of the manuscript with editorial feedback. An edit letter will be provided.

Sensitivity consultations are available for writers in the beginning stages of their drafts. These are useful for helping to determine whether or not material should be included.

Copyediting

Copyediting: Two passes for spelling, grammar, usage, style, consistency, fact-checking, and any other issues which may appear during the edit. Resources used will be the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. A style sheet will be provided.

Proofreading & Sensitivity Reading

Proofreading: ​At least one pass of an already-edited manuscript to correct spelling, grammar, style, and typesetting errors (if needed).

Sensitivity Reading: One pass to check the material for language or issues which may be offensive or inaccurate. Editor specialties are listed in the "about" section. A detailed reader report will be provided.
